Once there lived an elephant in the temple. Her name was Manu. She was very kind and wise. Everyone who visited the temple were eager to see Manu and fed her. Manu used to happily nod her head and bow the trunk to bless them. Manu was taken to roam around streets and take a bath in the lake nearby once in a week. Manu doesn’t disturb others at any time and children love to watch her.

One day Manu went to lake and had a bath. She was decorated with garlands for the temple function. While returning from the lake Manu need to cross a narrow bridge. When she began to walk through the bridge, there came a pig from the other end of the bridge. Seeing this Manu stood aside and gave way to the pig to cross the bridge. The pig was very proud as Manu stepped back to give him the way.

Meanwhile Manu’s caretaker and his little daughter who is very fond of Manu, was amazed to see Manu giving way and the pig walked through so proudly crossing the bridge. The little girl asked Manu the reason.

Manu said, “My slight kick might cause injury or it will fell off from the bridge. And also the pig was so muddy and dirty, I already got ready with all my decorations to temple. So any conflict with the pig may spoil my attire and will be delayed to reach the temple. Not only that whenever we are in to a task we should always be clear about our strengths and weakness and also the strengths and weakness of the other person.”

The little understood Manu’s thought and they both came to temple on time.
