Long ago, An elderly farmer lived in a small village. He was worried about his sons who showed no interest in farming or had any responsibilities. One day, he called his sons nearby. He divided his lands among them. Not only that, he told them to dig the lands upto one foot as he has buried a treasure as he forgot where he exactly buried the treasure. After saying this, he passed away.”
All three sons did the funeral ceremonies that needed to be done for their father. After that, they began to plough the land to find the trasure his father mentioned.
Initially, the eldest son dug his entire plot to a depth of one foot. However, he could not find the treasure anywhere. At one point, he thought his father might have said mistakenly one foot instead of two feet. In doubt, all three sons joined together and dug the land of the eldest son to a depth of just one foot again. Even then, they could not find the treasure.
In the quest to find the treasre at any cost, they also ploughed the second son’s land to a depth of two feet. It was all in vain. They motivated themselves.
Afterward, they dug the land of the youngest son, wondering, “How far should we go to find it?” Once again, they ploughed to a depth of two feet. But once more, it was in vain!
Even though they were frustrated by this they didn’t loose hope they motivated themselves and had a thought that they shouldn’t give up, “Alright, we have ploughed so deep let it not go in vain.” They carefully planted seeds in those fields. They watered them. They nurtured them. Would hard work pay off? At the end of the year, they saw a magnificent harvest. By cultivating diligently, they reaped a profitable yield.
In this way, they understood the value of hard work and self motivation as their father had emphasized, and all three sons recognized its importance.
